In a sea of anti-ageing products, this is the one you need more than anything. Can you guess which one I am talking about? Think anti-ageing but in a truer less superficial sense. It is a protein this product which delays the ageing process. It does help skin, hair and nails but much more besides!

A protein our bodies need and make but also a protein we lose one 1% of a year after the age of 20-25, shocking right? 'This is the glue which holds our bodies together.' I read in one article on the subject. Who knew? I certainly did not, defo a case of you learn something new every day! What a discovery. Have you guessed what this is yet?

I am talking about Collagen we have all heard of Collagen right but we or I associated it with beauty alone, a substance to help you look better in a superficial sense. But no this anti-ageing product is about looking good on the inside too!

Not just any type of Collagen, apparently five types are used and manufactured by the human body. I really had no clue. The five different types we need are:

  • Bone broth
  • Fish or Marine Collagen
  • Egg shell membrane
  • Eggs
  • Chicken

There might be up to 28 different types of anti-ageing Collagen but only five offer us health benefits and are essential in the physical make up of the human body. They are found all over the body.

  • Type l - The most abundant in our bodies and it helps to form our skin, bones, tendons, corneas, blood vessels walls and other connective tissues. This type of collagen is the strongest and a building block of the skin.
  • Type ll - This is the major collagen found in cartilage. Cartilage is also a structural component of the ears, nose, bronchial tubes, the rib cage and more. This type ll collagen known as Chicken Collagen features chondroitin and glucosamine sulphates. Yes believe it or not what we take in tablet form for our joints.
  • Type lll - Usually found in the same locations around the body as type l and also abundant like type l. This type concentrates on the skin and organs, aiding gut health, the structure of muscles and possibly blood clotting.

Types V/X - These two are not as abundant in the body but found in eye corneas and the placenta. Type V Collagen supports neonatal developement and eye health.
